April 2026 DMB Salary Update Analysis
March 20 export vs. April 28 export · Classic Standard player pool · hitters, pitchers, RC/600, and biggest movers
Short version: this was a reshuffle, not inflation. Across all 5,574 distinct player cards, every player matched between the old and new salary downloads; no players were added or removed in this update. The total salary pool was unchanged at the all-player level. The important story is the internal movement: hitters got $144.90M cheaper, pitchers got $137.86M more expensive, and the money moved away from low-RC bats and expensive outfield profiles toward selected high-RC bats, starting pitchers, and premium relief arms.
Correction note: This version separates the seven same-name cases: Delino DeShields, George Foster, Jose Bautista, John Farrell, Jack Wilson, Roberto Hernandez, and Adam Eaton. True two-way player cards are still counted once when their hitter and pitcher views share the same name, salary, and positions.

What Changed
- Total prices did not inflate. The all-player salary pool was unchanged on a roughly $22.56B pool.
- Most individual players got cheaper. 3,386 players went down, 1,968 went up, and 220 were unchanged. Median move: -$83K.
- Hitters got cheaper overall. Hitters lost $144.90M. That does not mean every hitter fell; it means the hitter side gave back money overall.
- Pitchers got more expensive overall. Pitchers gained $137.86M. The gains were concentrated enough to offset many individual pitcher cuts.
- Primary CF/LF/RF went down in price. Those three outfield buckets combined for -$105.16M. CF was hit hardest at -$43.92M, followed by LF at -$32.70M and RF at -$28.54M.
- RC/600 split the hitter pool. Hitters under 75 RC/600 got cheaper. Hitters from 75-90 RC/600 were mixed: the typical player got cheaper, but a smaller set got more expensive by enough to make the whole band net positive. Hitters at 90+ RC/600 got more expensive overall.
- SP pricing is a concentrated repricing, not a universal raise. Starters gained +$91.42M overall, but 849 starters still got cheaper while 696 got more expensive. Translation: selected SPs, including Seaver, Babe Adams, Wilbur Cooper, Kid Nichols, Kevin Brown, Tex Hughson, Yutaka Enatsu, Dizzy Dean, and Robin Roberts, jumped enough to outweigh a broad set of smaller cuts.

RC/600 Slices
Read this table in two ways: Net shows where total dollars moved, while Median shows what happened to the typical player in that band. Below 75 RC/600, both tell the same story: prices went down. The 75-90 band is noisy: the typical player still got cheaper, but enough players rose to make the band net positive. At 90+ RC/600, the class clearly got more expensive.

Pitching Role Slices
Pitching is the opposite shape from hitters. The typical SP, RP, and CL still moved down a little, but total dollars moved up because the risers were larger than the cuts. That is why starters can show +$91.42M overall while more starters went down than up. The jump was concentrated in 80 starters who rose by at least $1.5M, led by Tom Seaver, Babe Adams, Wilbur Cooper, Kid Nichols, Kevin Brown, Tex Hughson, Yutaka Enatsu, Dizzy Dean, and Robin Roberts.

These are not automatic buys. Defense, durability, platoon shape, and park fit still matter. But if you care about raw offensive pressure, these are the repriced players worth checking first.

How To Use This
For draft rooms, the useful edge is not “buy every drop.” It is knowing where the market got re-centered. The first pass should be: find newly discounted 90+ RC/600 bats, re-check premium CF/LF/RF prices, and do not assume old starter pricing still holds. The starter pool picked up money even though the median SP still dropped, which means the move was concentrated in selected arms rather than evenly spread.
For in-season transactions, the most interesting bucket is quality that got cheaper but stayed playable: Mays, Delahanty, DiMaggio, Buck Leonard, Hamilton, Boggs, Larry Walker, and other high-RC discounts are now easier to fit into cash worksheets. On the pitching side, Pedro, Maddux, Santana, Mussina, Blyleven, and several mid-tier starters came down, while the big starter increases clustered around Seaver, Babe Adams, Wilbur Cooper, Kid Nichols, Kevin Brown, Tex Hughson, Yutaka Enatsu, Dizzy Dean, and Robin Roberts.
Method Notes
This compares the March 20, 2026 salary snapshot with the April 28, 2026 salary snapshot. True two-way player cards are collapsed when their hitter and pitcher views share the same name, salary, and positions. Same-name different players are separated. All 5,574 distinct player cards matched across snapshots, so there were no additions or removals in this update.
The hitter and pitcher sections are still shown separately because DMB exports those views separately, and that is where the internal repricing movement is easiest to see.
